Storyline
DIGGSTOWN is a series that is centered on the mean and backbiting world of LEGAL AID, where individuals facing the daunting legal system can seek legal advice and guidance if they can’t hire a lawyer. It’s a tough world to navigate, where clients can’t pick their lawyers, and the lawyers can’t pick their clients, and where the lawyers are all on their own, without a support team to help them build a defence. Entering into this terrain for the first time is MARCIE DIGGS, a young lawyer living in DARTMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA, who just left a lucrative corporate job after she saw one of her relatives get her life destroyed by an unjust legal system. Determined to not let another innocent get crushed under the weight of a judge’s gavel, Marcie joins Dartmouth’s legal aid team, intent on helping those who can’t afford their own personal attorney. It is going to be a big adjustment for her, going from the corporate world to helping those over-looked by society, but her team of co-workers might be able to help her learn the ropes, provided they don’t give in to cynicism.
