The set will operate in English and in French. Extras must provide their own costumes, though some wardrobe and/or props may be provided.

Storyline

This is a short film that takes place in an English-language high school in 1979, in which students of non-Caucasian origins are largely a small minority. The tone of the film is inspired by Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused (1993).

She speaks English more or less like a native-speaker, having moved to Canada at a youngish age, but loves to speak Korean when she can. Nora likes to talk shit from the sidelines, has little patience for fools, and has a slight flair for drama. She knows she looks good without trying, but isn’t overly concerned about herself like Julie. Despite her spicy nature, she loves her friends, Julie and Gina. Note: We strongly encourage performers who identify as KOREAN to submit for this role, as the performer must speak some Korean. Non-actors or first-timers OK. ACCENT & LANGUAGE: This character must speak standard American/Canadian English. Must sound more or less like native American/Canadian English, with minor variances allowed. The performer must be able to speak some Korean with some fluency. Regional Korean accents or a slight English accent are allowed. Julie has to change clothes and put makeup on every day at school, since her grandmother only lets her out of the house looking like a total geek. Julie might seem like an airhead, but she’ll bite when provoked. She’s best friends with Julie and Nora. Note: We strongly encourage performers who identify as KOREAN to submit for this role.
