This is an ensemble piece and focuses on the liveliness of the BARBERSHOP and its importance to community, every character is important to the story!

**We can accept union and non-union actors through our student agreement with ACTRA. This is a non-paying student film and no permit is required. Actors will receive a copy of the finished film for their demo reel. Meals will be provided.**

Storyline

When a protective father forces his son to buzz off his afro, a lively barbershop erupts in a debate on what it means to present black.

*mentions/deals with police brutality, racism and racial trauma*

Description MALIK [BLACK MALE 18 - 24] - should pass as 17 year old - early 20's Malik is a regular at the barbershop; a blunt and confident teenager who is quick to tease anyone who is unfortunate enough to enter his crosshairs. Like the barber he is extremely opinionated, but often speaks before he thinks. He is running late to get tiramisu with his girlfriend and makes it everyone’s problem.

Often at the centre of heated debates, he never bites his tongue when speaking his mind, even if it ruffles feathers. He is the centre of this film and the driving force of its conflict.

He is there for conversation and to share his wisdom with the shop's patrons, even when it isn’t wanted. He is proud of his son Daniel more than anything.
