Storyline
Janelle is stuck in the middle — raising teenagers while caring for an aging mother who refuses to slow down. A tense therapy session cracks things wide open
Roles
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Janelle | Female 40 - 45 Years old |
Description Female | Black | Janelle is a fiercely capable woman who has built her life around caring for everyone else. Between her career, elderly mother, and teenage daughter, she carries everything herself and rarely admits when she needs help. When her biopsy comes back abnormal, Janelle immediately focuses on how the news will affect her family rather than confronting her own fear. But watching Maya begin sacrificing her future to care for Grandma forces Janelle to recognize a painful truth: she is passing the same self-sacrificing habits she learned from her mother on to her daughter. For the first time, Janelle must consider that loving her family doesn't mean carrying every burden alone. Strong. Responsible. Loving. Stubborn. Overextended. Self-sacrificing. Vulnerable.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Dr. Grant | Female 50 - 55 Years old |
Description 50s | Female | Therapist | Open Ethnicity Dr. Grant is Janelle’s calm, perceptive therapist and one of the few people who asks nothing from her. She sees through Janelle’s humor and automatic “I’m fine,” creating space for her to confront emotions she usually avoids. Rather than judging or pushing, Dr. Grant gently challenges Janelle to recognize the generational cycle she is passing to Maya. She helps Janelle understand that caring for others shouldn't require sacrificing yourself. Calm. Empathetic. Perceptive. Patient. Grounded. Compassionate. Gently challenging.
