Comments
Performer will receive a finished 3 to 4 minute stand-up comedy set and perform it at an established local open mic in their own city. Before material is assigned, the performer must identify a suitable open mic where phone recording is permitted and provide the venue name and a proposed performance date. Material should be performed essentially as written without intentionally adding, replacing, rewriting or substantially paraphrasing jokes. Small accidental wording changes during live performance are fine. Cue cards, printed pages or notes are completely acceptable; memorization is not required. Performer must obtain a clear phone-quality recording of the full performance and send the footage afterward. Stand-up experience is not required. This role is specifically intended for actors and scripted performers comfortable delivering supplied material; it is not a joke-writing, punch-up or improvisational role.
Storyline
This is an experimental comedy-development project. We are specifically seeking actors or scripted performers rather than stand-up comedians. Selected performers receive a finished 3 to 4 minute comedy set and perform it at an established local open mic in their own city. Performers are asked to identify a suitable open mic where phone recording is permitted and provide the venue name and a possible performance date before material is assigned. The purpose is to test how the same written material performs when delivered by different performers in front of live audiences in different locations. Cue cards or printed notes are permitted; memorization is not required.
