The CBC Actors Conservatory is recognized thoughout the industry as a vital hub for spotting and supporting exciting and original on-screen talent. This full-time creative and professional experience, which is programmed by the Canadian Film Centre, has launched close to 100 actors since it began and allows actors to expand their skills while empowering them to navigate career and marketplace opportunities. Each "CLOSE UP" showcases actors in a dramatic, character-driven scene. All CLOSE UPs are professionally produced and edited for a Canadian Film Centre Industry Showcase in the spring.

Rosalie Tremblay grew up on Vancouver island in a bilingual (French Canadian) fishing family.? Now, did wearing plaid, toques, and gutting fish make her gay? Yes. She is now a Toronto-based actor and writer. She graduated from the National Theatre School and has since worked on many prestigious stages such as the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, and London's the Grand Theatre in Dennis Garnhum’s “Clue.” She is currently in the renowned CBC Actors Conservatory at the Canadian Film Centre (CFC), where she had the privilege of working with Tamara Podemski, Rose Napoli, and Don McKellar, among many others. The CBC Actors Conservatory Showcase will debut Rosalie’s work at Toronto’s TIFF Lightbox, with her seven talented cohort members in March 2026. Rosalie loves hockey, chocolate, and stand up, but she can’t skate. But the most important thing to know about her is; As an actor it is her greatest honour to create community through story. And it is her greatest hope to remind us all, that none of us are alone, we have more in common than we think, and the best way to create change in this world is togetherness. And yes, she does think watching good TV can do that. So if you’re casting the long anticipated comedic remake to ‘Chocolat’ set in an ice rink…she’ll learn to skate.
Storyline
Leia, a lesbian, finds her self accidentally falling for her co worker. Afraid she’ll loose him if he finds out the truth about her inexperience with dicks, she does everything in her power to ‘do sexy sex.’ …She does everything BUT. Through the chaos of her attempt at ‘sexy straight girl’ the truth is revealed. Are romantic feelings enough to foster a sexual connection?
Roles
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
LeadNICK JOHNSONMale 30 - 39 Years old
Description
Male, mid-30s, any ethnicity. Must be comfortable with kissing, and sexual content. A mid 30’s half baked man, charming above all else, down for stupidity, funny, but a sensitive, earnest, and maybe insecure side that comes out around Leia. Think Paul Dano or Pete Holmes, with maybe the flippant-ness of Jake Johnson. He needn’t be ‘attractive’ in the way you think for romantic lead. Confidence in their own stupid charm is more important.
