Storyline
Private Inspector Carl “FITZ” Fitzgerald discovers his close friend and former partner, Detective Beau Brooks, has been murdered. Fitz Carl, a former police detective alongside Beau, vows to bring his killer to justice and launches his own investigation, despite the protests of his replacement and Beau’s new partner, Detective ALICE RICHMEN. Fitz interviews Beau’s widow, LUCY BROOKS, who is also his ex-wife and JAMES ELLINGTON, a nightclub pianist with a troubled past involving both Fitz and Beau. As Fitz reconnects with these individuals, glimpses of his true nature and his history with Beau are gradually revealed, leading to the truth of what happened the night of the murder.
Roles
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Lead | Fitz | Male 30 - 45 Years old |
Description Fitz is a jaded person, having been kicked out of the police force for being a loose cannon and a semi-functional alcoholic. He is very calculating, believing himself to be the smartest person in the room. Fitz feels superior to Alice, mainly because he views her as “just a woman” who has no idea how to do her job. From his point of view, it’s everyone else’s fault that he’s no longer a police officer, and he’ll show them all by solving this case.Fitz may have scenes where he will be smoking. Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Principal | Alice | Female 28 - 35 Years old |
Description Alice is confident in her abilities, not intimidated by Fitz’s hostility. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to fight for it. Beau was Alice’s mentor and friend at a time when female detectives were a rarity on any police force. She is incredibly driven to find his killer.
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Principal | Lucy | Female 30 - 40 Years old |
Description Lucy is the ex-wife of Fitz and the widow of Beau. She was not happy about Fitz’ drinking but only left him when Beau revealed that he had been cheating on her. Beau became the light of her life, and she is still in shock, grieving his death, when Fitz visits her. Despite her hostility towards Fitz, she wants to do whatever she can to help find Beau’s killer.
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Principal | James | Male 28 - 40 Years old |
Description James is the bus boy at a local bar that Fitz used to frequent. James was the resident piano player until he was exposed to what was considered an indecent act.
