TKBB are seeking a diverse range of performers for various roles across their upcoming 2025-26 season including Canadian new works, which include three distinct productions in the first block. TKBB welcome submissions from performers of all backgrounds, genders, identities, body types, and lived experiences. Equity and representation are core to their mandate, and they are especially interested in hearing from artists from historically marginalized communities. TKBB is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace. TKBB adhere to the CAEA's Safe & Respectful Workplace policies and encourage performers of all experience levels to apply.
Accessibility Notice:
The King Black Box is located on the 3rd floor of 1224 King Street West. There is no elevator access, and the venue is not currently wheelchair accessible. While they are actively working toward creating a fully inclusive environment, financial limitations have made ground-floor real estate out of reach at this time. They are committed to improving accessibility and are exploring opportunities for future productions, satellite performances, or pop-ups in more accessible spaces. Artists who identify as d/Deaf, disabled, or living with chronic illness are encouraged to submit. While their current venue is regrettably not physically accessible, they are happy to consider self-tape submissions and will explore alternative venues where possible to ensure greater access. Storyline
The King Black Box is a Toronto-based collective dedicated to programming thought-provoking and socially relevant productions. Their inaugural season received a 3.5/4 review from Joshua Chong The Toronto Star & 4 star from Glenn Sumi, their previous season met the moment: a death row story during the Ontario IPV crisis, a halfway house piece as support systems collapsed, and a pub-set comedy echoing generational shifts around alcohol. As they continue to explore their 'reputation for intimate, immersive and raw theatre' -Istvan Dugalin The King Black Box are excited to announce generals for their upcoming season.
At The King Black Box, they roll out their season show by show. Their upcoming lineup is already programmed including a show at Fringe produced by Ziggy Schulting, and launching their 2025-26 Season this summer with "Romeo Pimp" by Jesse McQueen, directed by Sophie Ann Rooney.
