Storyline
Rock is Dead is a short film about MILES, a 21-year-old Black guy who loves rock music. He’s an amazing electric guitar player but he can’t get any traction in the Toronto music scene because, well, rock is dead. Miles has a temper that has landed him in court-ordered therapy where he is reluctantly learning how to regulate his emotions. In the waiting room of his therapist’s office, he meets JASMINE, a 21-year-old Black woman navigating her own challenges. Smart and quick-witted, Jasmine isn't afraid to call out Miles for downplaying the validity of therapy. Miles and Jasmine immediately click and they set off on a journey of healing, music, and maybe even love.
