It’s important to note that both roles genders are unimportant, and I am open to casting anyone regardless of gender, ethnicity etc. If a female presenting actor fits a role best, character name changes are feasible.

The Redwoods tells the story of two lowly oppressed men, Zubarev and Rodion, who work in the harsh coal mines of a post-apocalyptic world. Rodion, keen to escape his grim daily life, tells Zubarev of a mythical place called, “The Redwoods” where dreams come true and freedom awaits. Though, the journey is treacherous and Zubarev is unsure if it is worth leaving his stable life behind. Convinced by Rodion, the two men navigate guards, the forest, and cross a river to make it to The Redwoods; among their arrival, it is clear that The Redwoods do not live up to Zubarev’s expectations. Rodion, however, fully engulfed in his belief that the Redwoods will set him free, abandons every relic from his old world, and runs freely into the forest. Zubarev cannot relinquish his old reality so easily, and becomes hysteric after Rodion tears up the map and leaves them stranded. However, as Zubarev frantically pieces the map back together, he is struck by an overwhelming sense of freedom, and joins Rodion by running into the unknown.
