The CBC Actors Conservatory is recognized industry-wide as a vital hub for spotting and supporting exciting and original onscreen talent. This full-time, creative and professional experience has launched close to 100 actors since it began and allows actors to expand their skills while empowering them to navigate career and marketplace opportunities. The "Close Ups" are original character driven pieces that allow actors to showcase and explore dramatic scenes and characters that excite them.

Sam Asante (He/Him) was born in North York, Ontario, where he discovered his passion for acting while studying film at the University of Windsor. His love for the craft was ignited during his job as a movie theatre usher at age 16. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Marcus Garvey in the CBC drama The Porter and has appeared in popular shows such as Murdoch Mysteries, Reacher, The Handmaid’s Tale, Star Trek, Most Dangerous Game, and What We Do in the Shadows. Additionally, Sam will be starring in his first Lifetime lead role in the upcoming thriller Abducted: The Carlesha Gaither Story.

While Kofi throws a birthday party for his child, an old “friend” arrives to urgently call in an old debt steeped in loyalty and sacrifice — one which threatens to lead Kofi back to a life he’s worked hard to leave behind.
