Phil - Father
Think of Phil Dunphy from Modern Family but more laid back and less comical. Selfless, extremely affectionate and loving, has a great relationship with his daughter and they have their own language when conversing. As a team the father and daughter are great problem solvers. Self tape notes - there is no dialogue in this spot, but we've included a bit of the script with dialogue for the sake of the self tape: INT. - LIVING ROOM - DAY PHIL(50) walks JANE (46) out the front door. Jane sighs with her back facing Phil. She steps out the front door. PHIL (affirming) It's gonna be alright. Jane turns around to give Phil a gentle hug then walks out to her car. Phil closes the door and rushes to the side window expeditiously. Once he sees Jane turn the car on and pull out of the driveway he rushes upstairs to his daughters' room CLAIRE (15) who is working on her laptop. INT. - CLAIRE'S ROOM - MOMENTS LATER PHIL: (enthusiastically) She's gone! CLAIRE: (invites Phil to look at her computer screen) Perfect! I've already started with a few photos, but we're gonna need a lot more to set this up properly. PHIL: Jane packed a few boxes a while back in the basement, I'll go through those and pull from there. CLAIRE: I also need you to share this link to Uncle Tom and Aunt Macy. I'm sure they have a lot more stuff. PHIL: You got it. Phil races down the stairs and begins going through dusty old boxes of memorabilia. He finds a few photographs and rushes back upstairs to hand them over to Claire. She photographs the photos on her phone and starts uploading them through the app. Claire goes back onto her laptop and continues organizing the photos while Phil begins calling Jane's family in hopes to source more photos and memorabilia of Grandma.
Jane - Mother
The mother is in mourning so she’s going to be a little reserved. Our mother is selfless but this time around she’s gonna be a little less present and going about her day monotonously. She’s going to have a cathartic release once she sees the memorial page with all of her mother’s photos/quotes/journey. Self tape notes - there is no dialogue in this spot, but we've included a bit of the script with dialogue for the sake of the self tape: INT. - LIVING ROOM - EVENING Janes enters the house and sees Phil and Claire standing in the hallway. Claire approaches Jane with a look of anticipation and points to the laptop on the dining table with slightly raised eyebrows. Jane walks over to the table, sits down and sees the laptop screen. On the laptop is a memorial page of Jane's late mother. There are photos of grandma, places she's lived, what she used to say and some videos as well. Jane's reaction is almost instantaneous, her heart is heavy with emotions, you can see her eyes watering up. Phil walks up behind her and she clasps his hand on her shoulder. While scrolling Jane gives off a few gentle laughs all while trying to stop herself from balling her eyes out but the emotions are too heavy and she finally lets out a few tears. She looks up to Phil and Claire JANE: You guys did all of this? Claire exchanges looks with Phil then looks back at her mother. CLAIRE: Actually it wasn't just the two of us, Uncle Tom and Aunt Macy helped out too. Look, they even added a few of the photos right there. Claire points to the screen. Jane is speechless. She is now bouncing feelings of joy and grief all while reminiscing about her mother's wonderful life.
Claire - Daughter
The daughter is less affected by the death of her grandmother compared to the mother. She’s a headstrong young lady focused on finding the silver lining in every situation. She’s the light that brings joy to the mother and father. An uplifting presence. She has a playful relationship with her father. Self tape notes - there is no dialogue in this spot, but we've included a bit of the script with dialogue for the sake of the self tape: INT. - LIVING ROOM - DAY PHIL(50) walks JANE (46) out the front door. Pompiste
Casting families with a child who had RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) in the last 2-5 years to share their stories for Condé Nast X Self. What exactly is RSV? The lack of knowledge around these three letters put together can lead to a life-threatening condition for babies 12 months and younger. In this video, Condé Nast & SELF will profile a family who has seen the stark reality of how this virus could unexpectedly and quickly escalate from a common cold to hospitalization. This profile will focus on their worry and frustration, and the light at the end of the tunnel, by telling the family's story through an interview and photos.
