Role description

18 to 25 years old, White man, and Light Brown hair. 18-25 years old, male, all ethnicities. This role involves playing the same character in two different time periods: age 18 and age 25. Teenage David (age 18) has figured out a lot in life since being a kid at summer camp. He’s found his confidence, built a network of a few close friends who confide everything in each other, and has even found a serious girlfriend in school who he loves very much. He’s found his passion in life in a very niche component of software engineering and is excited to leave the nest and experience the outside world as an adult. We are with him in that transitional time, the final summer before he goes abroad for school. His girlfriend (Amy) and he have decided they’re going to try long distance but deep down he knows that there’s a good chance the distance is too much to overcome. Amy asked David if he’d take a gap year to travel with her but David declined. Deep down, the reason he said no was in his mind he was worried he’d be looked at like a failure or less smart than the rest of his freshman class in college because he’d be 19 when everyone else was 18. Later on, David looks back on this moment and with hindsight and feels as though he made a mistake. Because the future is uncertain, he’s embraced carpe diem and is living this final summer before college as if it’s his last. When we jump forward 7 years in time, David is now a young adult (age 25). He’s secured a great job working in his software development niche, moved into his first real apartment, and is living with his new long-term girlfriend, Mia. He’s in a great place in life and his parents are so proud. With that said, sometimes David feels as though his life has gotten boring. He feels like he falls into the same routine, working a 9-5, coming home to his girlfriend, eat, sleep, wake up, repeat. Sometimes he wonders if adult life is like this for everyone or if he made a mistake somewhere down the road and took the safer route instead of taking a risk for a more exciting existence. Ultimately, this is something he’s never going to truly know and that lack of closure makes it impossible for him to forget.

Role description

[JANE] 27 to 33 years old, all ethnicities woman. Jane was always the odd kid in the group, having seen the spirit of her grandmother at a young age. This gave Jane an otherworldly connection, so when she falls for a fellow poltergeist-obsessed-oddball, Brian, she couldn’t be happier. Despite the pain of being left by her former fiancé, Jane believes it was for the best because Brian feels like her destiny. When the two choose the haunted Wayside Inn as their wedding venue, they’re thrilled to have an actual ghost encounter. But what they didn’t bank on was having to help resolve the unfinished business of both Angelique, a young, fiery, and heartbroken bride-to-be spirit, and Malcolm, her lovesick Scotsman, forever tethered to a pub far away from his lost love...LEAD

Role description

[BRIAN / MALCOLM] 27 to 33 years old, all ethnicities man. Both BRIAN and MALCOLM (GHOST) are to be played by same actor. BRIAN has always felt a little different than most people. Even with his close friends, he’s always felt like there was a part of himself holding back, until he meets Jane, another ghost hunting enthusiast. Knowing that Jane was heartbroken by her former fiancé, Brian works extra hard to assure her that he is hers forever. When they arrive at their wedding venue, the haunted Wayside Inn, he’s ecstatic to finally encounter a real-life ghost. A young, temperamental Angelique haunts the Wayside Inn and a lovesick Scotsman spirit is tethered to a pub far away from his beloved Angelique. Ghostly encounters aside, the strangest thing is the uncanny resemblance Brian and Malcolm share. It would be almost impossible to tell the two apart because Malcolm is Brian’s great, great, great uncle. MALCOLM, the spitting image of Brian, is a kilt wearing Scotsman who was killed in 1776 while on his way to elope with Angelique. A Revolutionary war hero, Malcolm is tethered to a local pub near the field where he was killed by British soldiers. Malcolm is bewildered by Brian and Jane’s interest in him, not realizing that his one true love is also stuck, unable to move forward. Malcolm eagerly cooperates with Jane and Brian in their efforts to reunite him with his beloved Angelique, often with hilarious consequences...LEAD. MUST BE ABLE TO DO A SCOTTISH ACCENT AND SUBMIT TAPE BEFORE BEING CAST.

[ANGELIQUE] 25 to 30 years old, all ethnicities woman. Back in 1776, the playful, bright, fiery ANGELIQUE was set to elope with her soulmate, Malcolm. With the urgency of her father pressing an arranged marriage on Angelique, she wanted to flee with Malcolm as soon as possible. However, tragedy struck when Malcolm died from injuries while fighting the British forces and Angelique passed shortly thereafter. Her love for Malcolm and her unfinished business have kept her tethered to the place she died, now known as the (very) haunted, Wayside Inn. Centuries later, whenever couples arrive to be married, her envy turns to sadness, and she acts out in rebellion against the happiness of which she was robbed. Waiting patiently for her love to return to her, she is surprised when Jane shows up with her fiancé Brian, a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to Malcolm! This is the last straw for her, and she holds their wedding hostage until her one true love is returned to her...LEAD
