Determined to fight for her rights and her fellow tenants’, Molly stands up to an unjust system and those who take advantage of it.
MRS FERGUSON
LEAD - MRS. FERGUSON, 65+ Although not without her own challenges, Mrs. Ferguson is a wise and resilient woman. She offers advice and support to Molly, drawing from her own life experiences and hardships, ultimately becoming her number one advocate and ally as they bring down Alan.
ALAN
LEAD - ALAN, 45-65 A smug and manipulative property manager who exploits his tenants for personal gain. He creates a false narrative that not only pushes residents out of their homes, but is fraudulent - illegal - too. He embodies greed and callousness, showing no remorse for his actions until he's faced with consequences.
MR GRECO
LEAD: MR. GRECO, 65+ A frail elderly tenant, vulnerable to the unjust tactics of Alan. He represents the most at-risk members of the community who are often overlooked and mistreated by those in power. HMU & WARDROBE: Comfortable and casual.
LANELLE
LEAD – LANELLE – 40s: AFRICAN- AMERICAN, Lanelle is resilient, compassionate, and determined despite experiencing heartbreak and betrayal. Lanelle grapples with the emotional turmoil of her failed marriage, her battle with cancer, and the uncertainty of her future. She also fears losing her sense of self and identity in the face of adversity. MARQUIS BOWEN
LEAD – MARQUIS BOWENS – 40s: AFRICAN- AMERICAN, Marquis’ core desire is to get out of his marriage with Lanelle and start a new life, free from the financial burden he feels she imposes on him. Marquis is motivated by self-interest and the pursuit of personal happiness. He believes that divorcing Lanelle and finding a new partner will bring him the freedom and financial stability he desires. The climax occurs when Marquis’ claims for a portion of Lanelle's lottery winnings are denied by the mediator, forcing him to confront the consequences of his actions and accept the loss of financial security he had anticipated. LEAD – VERA – 70s: Vera exudes a sense of compassion and understanding, making her a natural confidante for Lanelle. Leah becomes Lanelle's source of strength and emotional support. MR. REID
