RAYNA
A practiced carer. Data analyst by trade. Direct and linear in her approach to communication. Newer to dating, with sour past experience, and often feeling less secure in her relationship with Tilly.
Elizabeth
Only child raised by her doting Mother, KITTY. Elizabeth is sheltered and undiscerning. She sees the inherent good in all things. She’s accepting and loving. A people pleaser of sorts. Falls in friend-love all over the place, from the delivery boys to the shop girls, to the local ghost who roams the trails of her parent’s Bridal Path Mansion property. It is through her ongoing make-believe relationship with “Ghost” that Elizabeth realizes that her attachment to her parent’s purse-strings is stifling her growth. Elizabeth has recently broken away from her parents.
Kitty
Mother to Elizabeth. Graceful and effortless style. Selfish but doesn’t know it. Doesn’t know what Elizabeth needs at this stage in her life. Feels betrayed by Elizabeth’s decision to live life on her own terms. Can become petulant when Elizabeth doesn’t see things her way. Challenges what Elizabeth sees, which only pushes her further away. In this scene, she is making a bid to be less critical of her daughter. Accepts an invitation to dinner at her daughter’s new basement apartment.
Paloma
Hispanic, Latina or Afro-Latina. We welcome and embrace Latinx actors with an accent for this role. Paloma is a slightly sarcastic, big-hearted millennial lawyer from Venezuela and a newcomer in Canada. She's pretty stubborn and risk averse but her friend Chloe's kooky adventures always tickle her inner child. Painfully out of her umpteenth situationship, Paloma despises Toronto’s dating scene and has zero talking stage left in her tank. Until she meets Nilan.
