A slimy businessman who uses his power and prestige to take advantage of vulnerable, desperate young women.

Anne
Anne (young, pretty) is a secretary working at Earl’s law firm. She cares for her ill mother and works hard to pay her medical bills. She withstands mistreatment at work because she knows she’s responsible for her mother’s well-being. When Earl approaches Anne with his offer, she can’t help but say yes, despite her inexperience with sex. She’s doesn’t particularly enjoy being a submissive, but continues because of her contract, at first, and then later because of her devotion to Earl.
Earl
Earl is young, good looking, and a successful lawyer/CEO. He finds himself drawn to BDSM, and proposes a contractual agreement with Anne in exchange for money. He’s ambitious, and decisive. But he knows how to set boundaries. Though they work together, Earl is entirely professional at work, and a different man at home. Despite his dominant personality, he is soft, kind and caring to those close to him.
Vicki
A coworker of Anne’s who leads the charge in bullying Anne. She is vindictive, violent, and jealous, and immediately dislikes Anne when she sees how Earl favours her.
Logan
Logan is Earls's father. He is strict and successful, and has high ambitions for his son.
Sam
Sam is a gangster who harasses Anne when she's taking a walk on the street.
Marilyn Robles
Filipina, Oliver’s industrious birth mother who had given him up for adoption in the Philippines out of poverty. Though extremely independent, she deeply yearns for her son back in her life. Rediscovering him as an adult after his first Olympic gold, she immigrates to Canada working as a domestic helper in the hopes of revealing the truth to him someday. Bisaya-speakers are preferred. Tagalog-speakers may audition in Tagalog for self-tapes, but will need to learn Bisaya lines if cast.
Oliver
Filipino, Marilyn’s avoidant biological son, later adopted by a Canadian philanthropist as a child. Following the death of his adoptive mother, Oliver bottles his own grief to fuel his training as a sprinter and eventually becomes a two-time Olympian. In a twist of fate, he suffers a serious ankle injury and unknowingly hires Marilyn as a housekeeper so he may focus on recovery. Talent who is comfortable with running is a plus.
Mother
The story is told by the Mother of a child with special needs. She had her child when she was in her early twenties and has been a mother since. Once she becomes pregnant, the mother starts feeling stressed over life as she realizes that she won’t have as much freedom. All she wants for her child is to have him feel like he’s in a safe environment and be happy with the opportunity of being in this world.
Father
Non speaking role, open ethnicity. Appears in two scenes.
Child
In the PSA the main child is diagnosed with a disorder that made him nonverbal. For most of his life, he has been supported by his mother and father but has never had any friends from school. During his time in special education, he had trouble making friends and always seemed to hate school. In the PSA he is given the opportunity to be part of a public school, and he ends up loving school when he has support in making friends and feeling like he’s really part of a community.
School Mother
Open ethnicity, another parent of child friend with main child at the school. Scene takes place outdoors and actor will be asked to wear non branded winter jacket.
JULES
All ethnicities, female-presenting. The co-captain of the best high school improv team in the region, Group Therapy. An obsessive loser. Will do anything to win. As the younger sister of the infamous Laura (the victorious captain of Group Therapy for five straight years), Jules has big shoes to fill- and nothing is more important to her than impressing her older sibling. Even if that means destroying the very fabric of a twenty-year improv legacy. Will be required to improv.
CLAUDIA
All ethnicities, female-presenting. The other co-captain of Group Therapy. Calm. Collected. Determined. Too cool to be doing improv. She’s there because she genuinely enjoys performing- and somehow fits in way better with the quirky group of theatre kids than with her own popular friends. For some reason (wink wink), she truly believes in Jules as a co-captain, even when Jules sabotages Claudia and the rest of the team for her own personal gain. Claudia wants to win- but she wants to do it right. Will be required to improv.
LAURA
All ethnicities, female-presenting. The past captain of Group Therapy. Self-absorbed. Failing artist. The kind of person who deliberately failed twelfth grade math so she could remain on the improv team for an extra year. Slightly worried that she’s not as good as she’s always been told that she is. Not that she would ever let anyone know. Laura judges everyone to an extreme degree so that she can feel better about herself- which, of course, doesn’t exactly work.
SPENCER
All ethnicities, female-presenting. A member of Group Therapy. Confrontational. Quick to anger, quicker to defend. Loves her friends, but despises her enemies- which includes Jules. Will be required to improv.
GABE
All ethnicities, male-presenting. A member of Group Therapy. Jules’s right-hand man. The kind of person who grew up on musicals (the obscure ones) and who will never let you forget it. Definitely heading to a great theatre program after high school. Will be required to improv.
