Having grown up in a conservative environment, he developed a detached view of intimacy and self-expression, but beneath his stoic exterior lies a yearning for connection and self-reinvention. Ray is intelligent and self-aware, with a sharp wit and a dry sense of humour, but he often deflects vulnerability through cynicism and bravado.

As a self-taught artist, she often allows her fear of failure to hinder her progress. She tries to be morally upstanding even if she isn’t morally perfect. However, deep within that tough exterior, she still yearns for her father’s presence.

Levi has known talent and success, yet has never admitted to himself that he abandoned what truly mattered to him. A master of masking his emotions with wit and humour, Levi is now determined to make amends with his daughter, Clara, yet is prevented by one thing, himself. Confronted by the reality of his illness, he still seeks to atone for the hardships he caused her, not just as an artist, but as a father.
