Storyline
Upon discovering she's pregnant, 16-year-old Olivia struggles with how to break the news to her volatile mother Kristy. Throughout the film, Kristy is burdened with constant phone calls from her estranged mother, Janet, and it is revealed that Janet and Kristy have a very complicated relationship as well. Eventually, Kristy discovers Olivia is pregnant which escalates into a vile altercation. Afterwards, Olivia tries to repair the relationship with her mother, but Janet's passing is what ultimately becomes the catalyst for repairing their cycle of generational trauma.

Although they have a toxic relationship, Olivia cares about her mothers opinion and doesn’t want to provoke the pernicious environment they reside in. Janet used to be kind and the girl-next-door type, until her husband left her and her addictions began. As her granddaughter Olivia grew older, her daughter Kristy refused to let Janet be a part of her life. Though barely mobile due to health issues and past injuries, Janet is adamant to remind Kristy daily how terrible she was, and how mad she still is. This results in Janet calling their house several times a day, leaving multiple messages regardless of an answer or reply. | ||
