Jasmine Quirk is the co-writer and director of The Pill. She is in her fourth and final year of the Film Production program at York University. She has previously directed two short fictions and a short documentary and is excited to be working with so many talented people on her thesis project. When not making movies she can be found playing D&D, knitting, and watching musicals.

We can accept union and non-union actors through our student agreement with ACTRA. This is a non-paying student film and no permit is required. Actors will receive a copy of the finished film for their demo reel.

Meals and transportation (or cost of) will be provided on shoot dates.
Storyline
The film follows Diane, a 1960s housewife and mother of three. She must reflect on her future as a mother --- her one great joy and purpose in life --- when her husband, Robert, tells her to start taking the newly approved contraceptive pill. She confides in her friend Pattie, and decides to trick her husband into thinking she is taking the pill, resulting in a pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage. This film is inherently feminist and political dealing with the subject matter of motherhood, women's autonomy, miscarriage, family, and friendship.
