Storyline
Kaboul, Montréal takes us in Afghanistan where Zarmina Latif, fifteen years old, forced to marry a sixty-five-year-old man, flees her hometown to marry an Afghan living in Montréal. Organized by her mother – who strives for a better life for her daughter - her escape comes at a cost: Zarmina’s children will have one day to marry their cousins, allowing them to live in Canada. 15 years later, the pact resurfaces. Zarmina is now a widow and her son Hakim has become the head of the family. Under his uncle’s orders, he must bring his sister Mina back to Kabul to marry her cousin. Well integrated in Montréal, Zarmina and Mina vehemently refuse. Their opposition will have tragic consequences. Kaboul, Montréal: a film that portrays characters condemned by fate to live a tragic end.
