Comments
During the audition and selection process we will be asking families if they are comfortable with our student film crew coming into their homes to interview them. This commitment will span a max of 4 days (location analysis prior to filming, and the days we are filming). Please keep in mind that we will be asking all participants if they are comfortable with us shooting in their homes. If participants are not comfortable with us filming in their homes, this will not be held against them in the selection process.

Talent must reside in the Greater Toronto Area. We can accept union and non-union actors through our student agreement with ACTRA. Actors will receive a copy of the finished film for their demo-reel. Meals, beverages, and transportation on shoot days will be provided.

We are committed to diverse, inclusive casting. For every role, please submit qualified performers, without regard to disability, race, age, color, national origin, ethnic origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other basis prohibited by law.

Storyline
MIXED* (working title) is a 15-to-20-minute cinematic documentary celebrating the resilience and growth of interracial couples and mixed children in the city of Toronto. Through the lens of three mixed-race individuals, the film delves into their candid reflections on upbringing and life in interracial families. Spanning different age groups—kid/teenager, middle-aged adult, and elder—the documentary maintains consistency while embracing diverse narratives. Participants, prompted to write letters to their parents, share their stories in interviews, intertwining personal accounts with emotional readings of their letters. Parents, in turn, respond to their child's letters, fostering deep conversations about their interracial experiences and family dynamics. With an intimate tone and emotive interviews, MIXED* aims to evoke empathy and inspiration, shedding light on the beauty and challenges of cultural diversity in Toronto while fostering healing and connection within the featured families.
