Storyline
Kenneth wants to reconnect with his family after being away for a while. Being back home is never easy since his father passed away; leaving behind Kenneth, his sister, and his wife who battles early stage dementia. Kenneth’s sister also has a young daughter who is deaf. Kenneth takes his niece and mom out for an early lunch on a weekend. Since he lives elsewhere for work, he doesn’t get to spend much time with his family. What seems to be a nice lunch is abruptly cut short when he realizes his own mother doesn’t recognize him. After efforts to discover who and what she remembers, he’s left concerned, saddened, and deeply emotional; while coming to the realization that this disease has a stronger hold over her than he thought.

She is smart, kind, and observant. Avery developed an ear disease when she was very young and became deaf in both ears.
