Writer/Director Bio: Mehrtash Mohit is an Iranian-Canadian writer and director. He explores themes about unpacking societal values and exposing dilemmas. His most recent short film, Retributive Minds, won Best Foreign Language Film at NYCSHORTS, and he is currently in development on another short, Finding Shelter, which received funding from Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council and was nominated for best short screenplay at the Atlanta Film Festival and New York International Screenplay Awards. Mehrtash is also in development on his first feature film, which was selected for research funding from Canada Council of the Arts.
Storyline
Pouya, a young adolescent, makes his first trip to the dentist on his own, which becomes a pivotal moment in his life after an uncomfortable encounter with the dental assistant



THE STORY are 10 minute short film productions with several intentions. They allow for the CFC Directing Residents to collaborate with other disciplines while further exploring their voice, elevating their creative and technical storytelling skills and showcasing their
unique vision and approach.

He spent all of his 30s working hard to achieve this goal. He hit his success in his early 40s which translated into money, more attention from women and social status.

Description
Male, Middle Eastern, 16+ to play 14. Pouya is introverted and reserved. He prefers to be left alone with his thoughts rather than spending time with people. Pouya was born two years after his parents moved to Canada from Iran. He grew up with a very close relationship with his parents. And despite being an only child, he never had any close friends. As he grew older his parents' marriage started to break down which only pushed him more to his shell. He spends most of his time reading books and watching films. He tries to be a good student at school mostly because he does not want to add any more stress for his parents and give them extra reasons to argue. He wishes that he was still a kid.
